I yall, I've owned a beautiful 1977 Mercury Monarch 2dr for about 5 years now (from orig. owner) that is almost rust free and totally original. it was equipped with a 302 and C4 and the goofy 8.7 2.47:1 rear, and was painted in saddle metallic. it rolled over 100,000 and it lost oil pressure and seized. I cannot decide for replacement between the 302 which would be easier and somewhat cheaper, or go with the 351w which would require new oil pan/accessory mounting plate, intake, manifolds/headers and balancer. any insight on this would be appreciated and if anyone knows of a company that makes headers for monarch 302's or 351's that would be very very helpfull.

My votes goes to a 302.. A tight 302 , with a great carburator, and a hotter rear end will give you all the thrills you want.
But that's me, you pick what YOU want. Good luck, Ralph

Check out the "SUMMIT RACING" website-- they carry performance parts from major manufacturers-
Hint- key in "ford Maverick" instead of "mercury monarch" --
Remember cheap usually means = no good.

302 is the way to go,the 351 is a tight fit and 5 liter mounts dont work without drilling new holes, good luck!!!
