I have a 78 versailles, which obviously has the 9 inch rear end
I've read the tag no the rear axle, it reads 2 50 without the "L" so it is not a locking differential.
If I choose will I be able to install a limited slip, I've heard it is possible. I believe these diffs used clutch style limited slip.
What do you guys think?

If in fact it is a 9", then a traction-loc can be installed

If I put in any type of new differential carrier will I have to put in new bearings as well?

you wont have to, but if the new carrier doesnt come with new bearings, I'd put them in.
