Hey everyone, I have a 78 versailles I have been using as my daily driver for the last 2 years. Its been working pretty good. Few problems but the 3 of the window gears going out. Also, the handle on the inside of the drivers door just snapped off However, I wanna give the car a little more grunt so I am looking at switching to a 4 bbl intake and carb. I already put a dual high flow exhaust on the back. Im looking at an edelbrock 3721 intake which should be compatible with the egr system. However, if its easier and more economical to my gas mileage I can remove the EGR system as I dont have emissions checks on the car. How many cfm should the new carb be...? Should I remove the EGR...? Any advice is welcome and thanks in advance for the answers.

If you go to the Holley website, they have a carb 'chooser' thingy. You answer a few questions about CID, and what performance you desire, and it recommends based on your selections. Removing the EGR is up to you.

does the intake have to be compatible with the EGR if I keep the EGR system or can I just bolt on any old intake/?

only if you want to retain the EGR, would the intake need to be compatible. otherwise, you can get an intake without.
