Problem is my 76 Monarch suspension upper control arm bushings have failed. In the Ford Factory Manuals, they say the shaft and bushings are only replaced with a complete upper control arm. Yet all the local auto parts only list the ball joint and the replacement bushings. Apparently upper control arm assemblies are not available, nor is the shaft. So if the Factory does not make provision to replace the parts, but the bushings are supposedly available, how do I proceed? I once replace the shaft and bushings on a 65 Fairlane. The book said a spacer of specific length needed to be fabricated and inserted in the control arm before the bushings were tightened down. Is this required for the Monarch-Granada? What else is needed to do this repair? Does anyone know of a business that stocks the complete control arm with shaft and ball joint? I need to get this done so I can attend an out of area car show soon. I do have the MOOG ball joints and bushings, but do not know the condition of the shaft, since I have not pulled the unit out yet. Thanks for any advice. JME
