OK this note is for those of you that are into rubber.....
I have a 1976 XR7 with but 17,000 miles on it...I bought it on the West Coast 4 1/2 years ago, it has 215 -70 R 14 under it. The brand is "Cavalier" , the only other info is "LRR". I know they are not the originals, the car would have come from the factory with either" Firestone 500"or Üniroyal", A "Firestone 500"spare is in the trunk. Anyway, the these Cavalier do not have any DOT code, nor UTMG ratings, nor which country in which they were made., so they have been around for a while. The sole/ tread has 7, yes, 7 ribs. and no visible wear, nor is there any cracking anywhere on the sidewalls. Are any of you familiar or know something about ..these tires. I know, Cavalier are now produced as a house brand line of tires. I expect whoever is using the name has no real connection to the original manufacturer. Any input appreciated & Thanks, Ralph

My gut feel is that they may have been a line put out by service station company............ remember when they were service stations and not just gas stations? We've wrecked a lot of cars with no name brand tires over the year but I really don't know the origins of those.
