Hi, I have a transmission issue, when I start up my Nada and put It in drive. Then it takes 4-5 second before its going? ? And its only the first time, the rest off the day its ok. When I put it in reverse there is no issue. Henrik, Denmark www.americangranada.dk

Hi Henrik- I'm certainly not a transmission expert, but in 50 years of driving cars, and having owned about 40 of them , I've encountered a number of transmission issues, but not one that required a rebuild. I believe the majority of issues originate from lack of use, rather than overuse , or even abuse. I think that the condition you are describing can possibly arise from three or more factors; most commonly a "low"' fluid level... transmission will operate but requires more time to build up the required pressure. secondly, the most common contaminant of the fluid is ..condensation...which occurs when the transmission cools down from brief and occasional use only. The colour of the fluid should be the same or very close to that in a new unused container of fluid. If not, even if it doesn't smell burnt, it's contaminated. And, thirdly failure to replace the transmission filter periodically- 2 yrs to-30 months. I doubt that it needs anymore than a remedy to one or all of the above... doubtful, it requires any other adjustment. Automatic transmissions are probably one the more reliable components of automobiles, at least since the early '70's. Please post what you uncover and the fix you make. Cheers, Ralph
P.S. - Tell me , is it hard to get "TYPE F" automatic transmission fluid in Europe?
