Bill, have you checked out James Kaster's Versailles site? www.lincolnversailles.comIf the car you mentioned doesn't pan out, James might be able to point you in the right direction.

Welcome, Bill
I think that that Versailles you referenced was on Ebay. Because it was being listed piece by piece, I didn't keep the Ebay auction number for reference to the seller. I doubt if it still exists.
I'd love to add your fleet to the Registry. and would love to see some pics.

Hi Jeff, Thanks, I am a member of LCOC, So actually my VERSAILLES,serial numbers are already on Your data base. except for the 78,which i got a few weeks back, and of course my 79 MONARCH. I also got a digital camera recently, have to learn to use it so I will try and post pics later, Also later I will send more Info for Your data base later. As for the 77 Versailles, In Aurora, I would not be surprised if it was SCRAPPED by now. Have a GARAGE and BASEMENT full of PARTS, but of course the WRONG INTERIOR COLOR! If anyone knows of a 77 or 78 VERSAILLES ,with a "CORDOVAN" CLOTH INTERIOR, please let me know. Bill 79

Last year I bought and resold a '77 Versailles. It had a leather cordovan interior. I don't know what happened to it. It was supposed to be restored in Whitby, ON but it was a bit of basket case. I only paid $500 for it but decided it was too good to be used as a parts car. I originally had bought it for additional accessories for my '76.

Actually CORRECTION everyone! The "CORDOVAN" Was and is the same COLOR ,used every Year for the VERSAILLES ,1977 -1980. For the CLOTH, the only DIFFERENCE, is 1980 ,USED a diffrent more luxurious CLOTH, and the armrests, were NOT leather covered anymore, That will expand my possibities,of finding CORDOVAN cloth materials, for the years 77 to 79. This is what hapens sometimes, When all Your VERSAILLES have the SAME colr Interiors, then You get another one with a diffrent color! DUH! to me!!! ;D. Anyways I will CHECK with James, And If anyone does know of a 77-79 VERSAILLES with a CORDOVAN Cloth Interior, please let me know. Thanks, BILL79

Actually I did do a color match to Cordovan on my car; not brown. But, it probably is a tad "muted" compared to the original shade. Depending on lighting conditions: flash, amount of sunlight, etc., pictures can look more brown or more burgundy with the Cordovan color. That's one of the things I like about the color.
To keep the color consistent throughout my car, I color matched the leather for painting the plastic panels. You can send fabric and material samples to be matched.
I also used leather on everything in the interior; no vinyl. So, the door panels, armrests, all parts of the seats, console, dash are leather. Even the piping on the carpet on the door panels and kick panels are done in leather.
SMS Fabrics has original fabric materials. You may want to contact them for the fabric and take it to an auto upholstery shop to recover your panels.

James, Thanks for the INFO, If all else fails, and I want a cloth door panel. Its nice to know that the material is available. The only other question probaly is COST. Something tells me the LABOUR,involved might be a very EXPENSIVE venture. And that does not include the material. Dont mind me asking but did You find the LABOUR cost EXPENSIVE? Bill 79

Original Auto Interiors might be another source for fabric, etc - originalauto.com/Some of the members at americangranada.com have had good luck with Original Auto.

The cost can vary greatly depending on a few factors: - Will you take the door panels in dismounted from the car?
- Will you have the upholstery?
- Do you need to replace the padding sewn behind the material?
- Will you remove the lower carpeting?
I took only the door panels in without the lower carpeting with my leather. They had to remove the window channel molding and door lock ring. They added padding to the leather, sewed the pattern and reattached it all to the door panels while adding back the window channel molding and door lock ring. I took the panels back home, added the carpet, armrests and trim. Then I installed the panels back on the door. But the labor to have them do what they did was $80 per door panel including the padding.
