The tip on mine broke off. About maybe 2 or 3 inch peice of metal. I think there is a screen in the tube before it enters the transmission but i am unsure. If it is in the transmission will that be a problem ( well of coarse). i do not even think is has a chance to get in there. In the mean time I had a spare one and put it on.
Now if this was your car would you drive it?
I did drive mine around and didn't make anynoise and it shifted fine.

have you tried to get a small round, telescopic magnet wand, insert it in the tube and see if it brings up the broken piece. Alternately, same concept, insert a 1 inch long 1/4 in square shank magnet in one end of a 3/16 rubber/neoprene tube . The beauty of the rubber tubing is that it will not magnetically cling to the filler tube and you can make it as long as you want. Good luck.Ralph
