Okay, so I've been wanting to get a new stereo put in my 77 Granada since I got it. I went to a place that deals with car stereos and they told me the only way the could get on in there (because of the limited space) is to tear out all the molding/front panel and it wouldn't look very good in the end. But just the other day I came across this: www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=1863066 Do you think it would really work? I'm kind of skeptical. the size of the Granada radio is quite small. What do you guys think?

Austin- First, welcome to the forum board- DON'T CUT or LET ANYONE CUT YOUR DASH SHELL/TRIM/or MOLDINGS. There is so much choice in audio equipment these days, you can find something. Check out MUSTANG shops on line that specialize in restorations, etc.. There are authentic looking radios that have Ipod, MP3, CD changer features, without making modifications to your "vintage"dash board. Prices run $200-$500, but you'd at least pay $200 for any decent name brand stereo unit.. There are usually some for sale on E-Bay- just search Mustang radio. Good luck. Cheers, Ralph

Austin,
I agree with Ralph! As a District manager for Wal-mart Automotive division (and a proud Granada owner myself) I WOULD NOT recommend any item we sell. I realize how that must sound coming from me. However, all our goods are made for modern vehicles from about the late 80's at best and up. You can also find a good looking, optioned radio from Custom Autosound.com. Good luck and DON'T cut your dash. They are like gold when trying to replace. James from MS.

There are Ford shaft-mount radios into the mid 80s that had AMFM cassette, and they will bolt into the GMV. That would be a decent upgrade over stock AM. I would think it should be possible to integrate an MP3 jack into an older radio like these. The jack could be hidden in a lot of places, let you plug in an iPod and have all the tunes you'd ever want. Austin, I agree with Ralph!
