Hey Gang! So I've been tinkering with my '76 once again lately and I'd like to know if the Shelby drop can be done to a Granada without the shim kit?
The Shelby drop consists of relocating the upper control arm exactly 1 inch lower.
Since early Granadas and Mustangs share the same upper and lower control arms, not to mention most of the Granada's suspension is Mustang/Maverick based, I was assuming that this Shelby mod could be done without the kit.
Any thoughts?

By the by, the Shelby drop lowers the front about and inch or so on top of the better handling characteristics.

So after much research or roller spring perches, and early Ford suspensions in general, I've stumbled onto the DazeCars website. There is quite the little library on early Ford suspensions and other mods that can be done. There is also an article and a how to guide regarding the 1" Shelby/Arning drop and I decided to write them an email concerning if the drop could be done to our beloved Granadas/Monarchs/Versailles. This is the reply that I had received:
"The 1" drop was built in to that type of suspension on Ford cars starting in 71 so if you wanted to do it on your Granada, assuming there is clearance for the relocation of the bolts, you could only go down another .75" and you would be required to use a negative wedge kit. I would only do it if it was a circle track only car."
Guess that pretty much answers my own question, saves me a couple of bucks and provides me with more appreciation for these cars.
