Anybody out there had any luck in fixing cracks in a dash pad? Mine has a couple of cracks, barely visable but still there. I'd like to prevent them from getting any worse. And how about the dash pad covers one sees from time to time on ebay? Any words of wisdom greatly appreciated.

Awhile back, John Elko (on the Yahoo board) said that he bought the dash cap for one of this. Never heard if he installed it or how it turned out, might be worth asking. Here's a video clip of a cap installation on a Pinto. Worth a look, the photography could have been better but it shows some before and after. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dfbet4fjnCY

ROD & OTHERS-
I got my dash cap from Arizona Bob...but it arrived badly mangled at the hands of USPS/Canada post. Looks like someone drove a fork lift over it. Arizona Bob is replacing it for me. Although cracked , I still tried it for fit.... great fit, snug but not too tight. Since it's a molded cap,it feels harder than the original padded dash, but not objectionably so. From the front seat position , once installed you wouldn't know the difference, speaker grille, sensor grille, are just where they should be. The only thing that will be evident on mine is at the defrost vent openings, they're somewhat larger and once bonded you'll notice the overlap cut out looking thru the windshield. but that's all. Of course, you have to paint to match.. I believe though that his product is good quality. I'd recommend it. I'll post before and after pics when I do it, likely in a month or so. Cheers, Ralph P.s. Rod - I saw your private message but didn't have your e-mail.

Thanks for the info. I bought a dash pad off ebay...it arrived damaged beyond redemtion, now I wait for the insurance claim. I guess I'll get a dash pad cover instead next time one comes up, or does this arizona bob guy take orders? I missed out on one last week 'cause I forgot to bid! Oh, well, I have plenty of time. My Monarch is currently having the body done, then it will be painted, and the front seat is being re-built/upholstered so it will likely be fall before I can drive it again.

I recieved my dash pad cover from Arizona Bob today. Just for the record, it is an excellent option for a cracked dash. Fit is perfect and I would be very surprised if anyone would ever be able to see that it isn't origional. Highly recomemded and wqorth the money.
