What would the engine compression be in a Granada's 1976 302?

8.00:1. The first years of unleaded fuel, without electronic engine management to help out...

So putting in a CompCams XE268h wouldn't be a good idea with that compression, I guess? I'm thinking on upping the compression to something between 9 and 9.5:1 What kind of pistons should I get?

You could swap in a reasonably aggressive cam profile with the 8-1 compression. If you were running forced induction like a supercharger you'd want low compression anyway to keep the thing alive. Find a smallblock Ford head with a smaller chamber, that'll raise the compression some without swapping pistons.

Thanks Gary for the replies. I'm saving up for some TFS heads with a 61cc chamber with an Edelbrock RPM AirGap intake and something along the lines of a 600 to 650cfm carb as you've suggested (maybe Edelbrock or Holley, or even a Speed Demon if I save enough). In the long run, I'll more than likely have a NOS setup so I guess that'll make up for the low compression.

Great news, well for myself anyways. I found some 60cc aluminum+assembled cylinder heads from Patriot Performance for ~900$ for a pair from Summit Racing. They feature 185cc intake runner volume, 60cc for the exhaust, 2.02" intake valves, 1.6" exhaust valves and can handle hydraulic tappet cams with up to .550" lift. Only down side is that they are drilled for 1/2" head bolts.
