Hi, I'm looking at a '75 Monarch with an original equipment 351W motor and non-stock exhaust system. The car does not have any catalytic converter now. Does anyone know if this model/engine came from the factor with or without catalytic converters? I had thought all cars '75 and up had them, but the owner doesn't think this car ever did. In my state a catalytic converter would have to be installed regardless of age if it came from the factory with one in order to pass inspection.

Does the car have the restricted inlet at the gas tank? Catalyst-equipped cars got the tank inlet that would only accept an "unleaded" nozzle. Leaded nozzles were larger. If the tank inlet is not restricted it might have been a non-cat car.
I can't remember exactly - but I think there were a few exceptions in '75, although most had converters.

I don't know if they all had convertors, but Hollander Interchange lists a convertor for 1975-76 Granada/Monarch with 8-351. It's part number D6DZ-5E212-A. I did not list it saying cars equipped with converter so I assume that all had it.

You could always have a pair of low-restriction cats put in the dual exhaust. There are some pretty small ones.

any original tuneup spec stickers under the hood will say cat or not. look for the restrictor in the gas tank. if its not there does NOT mean its a non cat car.we used to knock them out with a pipe and hammer back in the day. you could not tell they were ever there.
