FYI... Some Versailles, probably 1980 models, have plastic center caps to reduce weight. A set of those were original on my Versailles. But, I purchased a used set of metal center caps used on previous years and other Lincoln dish wheels. Mine seem heavy enough to not be aluminum, but rather chromed metal. (I'm digressing... I know...) Anyway, to polish my metal set of center caps, I first ran them through the dishwasher. When they dried, I used a Dremel with polishing and buffing wheels. It's tedious, but it cleans up nicely for an old, used piece.

Yes, I've heard before that running wire wheel covers thru the dish washer, with water as hot as you can get and a rather heavy dose of the powdered , as oposed to liquid or gel, dishwasher detergent does a real good job. Recommended it be done when the better- half has gone out shopping for the whole day.ha!ha!

Thanks guys! I took the covers off & took them apart it was easier to clean them but a bit tricky to get them back tpgether!! They look good but some chrome is pitted after 28 years who knew!! When I learn how to upload I will post a couple pics..For a mostly original the car is great....Don
