There is always a lot of discussion about what people run for tire sizes. Here are some examples of what is being run: Dec 15, 2001 Mariusz's '75 Granada Ghia 4dr was running 195/65 R14s on stock steel rims: www.gmv-registry.com/generic58.htmlAug 11, 2002 Member with 235/60-15 on th front and 255/60-15 on rear Mar 20, 2003 Member with '76 Granada with 265/50-15 tires with 15x8 rims on the front and 295/50-15 tires with 15x10 inch rims on the back. The back spacing is 4 inches. May 27, 2003 Jim Lane's '80 Granada had stock wheels and 205/70R14 tires Jun 16, 2003 Benjamin Keevil runs Firestone FR380 - P195/75R14 on his '75 Monarch Grand Ghia www.gmv-registry.com/generic5.htmlJun 18, 2003 Phillip Trembley was running P215/75R14's on his two Lincoln Versailles due to the limited availability of "correct" white side wall width in the 205's Mar 16, 2004 (your webmaster) I have 235/60-14's on my '76 Monarch on Mopar Magnum 500's. They are the correct overall height to keep your speedo accurate. www.gmv-registry.com/generic4.htmlSep 15, 2004 Kev 79 ESS ( with 295/50/15's on 15x8 magnum 500 and 1/4" wheel spacer. --my wheels are standard offset.) www.gmv-registry.com/generic371.htmlJan 6, 2006 Henrik runs 295 x 50 on 15" www.gmv-registry.com/generic125.html

Hi Jeff- I have P205-70R14 (93S) on my Granada replacing the 195-75 R 14 previously on. I have one more (5) tread ribs instead of (4). Seems to have helped directional stability, and actual speed is only off by about 1mph less at a reading of 60mph. Ralph

Thanks for your input. This subject comes up every 6 months to a year on the Yahoo board. Thought I'd search the posts and bring some of it over here - in one place.

My '77 SC was originally equipped with FR78x14s on the factory Magnums. When I replaced the original tires I went to 225-70R14 Radial T/As. This is the size I've run ever since. Clearance is no issue but they do fill out the wheelwells much better. When Henrik came to the US in August '05 to pick up his '77.5 SC, we took the car for a new set of 225/70R14 Radial T/As. Henrik has since upgraded to 15s on the car but here are a couple of pics of his car with 185/78R14s before, and the 225s after... 185s, before: 225s, after: The 185s the car had on it were undersized for the car - that is the equivalent of a DR78, which was the standard factory tire for a six-cylinder base car. This car is a 302 SC and should have had at least 195s, or ER78 in the 1977 sizing system. Largest optional factory tire was the FR78x14 - about equal in height to a 205-78 or a 215-70. In my opinion, these cars just look way better with more tire under them.

I just installed a set of 2006 Mustang Pony Rims w/ 3 bar spinners (no, not the ghetto kind) and 215/65-16 BFG's on my Granada. The bolt pattern is the same but due to the high offset of the new wheels (39mm) I needed to add spacers (1.5" in front, 2" in back) but all clears and works beautifully, and the car looks tight! pic:

If 225/70R14 and 215/65R16 tires fit, then 225/60R16 tires will also fit and that means Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis/Town Car wheels and tires should fit. 225/60R16 tires are 26.6" in diameter and are pretty close to the HR78-14 26.7" diameter of the factory fit radials on my car. The closest metric size to the HR78-14's is 215/75R14 and those are 26.7" as well. Black 16" CVPI steel wheels, center caps, and Dodge pickup trim rings are what I plan to use on my Torino. Thankfully, Ford didn't do like GM and change lug threads over to Metric. 1/2"-20 lug nuts are pretty common over all Ford products, so I can pull 20 collared lugs off any Explorer, Ranger, CV, GM, TC, or whatever, to secure those center caps.
