Henrik and I are in Tulsa. Saw the buried '57 Plymouth yesterday (it's pretty gross). Also hit some of the Mid-America Ford and Shelby show and swap meet yesterday. On our way now to the Marriott, host location. The swap meet is there today and the show field should be full of great stuff. We saw some of it yesterday, some remarkable cars. Will add some pics and more info later after we have taken it all in! UPDATE: Swap meet: most of the major vendors represented. Found one Granada item: nasty pair of about '79 taillights, big hole in the backside of the housing in one of the lights, guy wanted $50 for the pair. Politely declined. One well known vendor at the show: A few highlights from the car show: This is the Mustang that Mickey Thompson ran at Bonneville. It is actually a factory prototype '69 Mustang; has a '68 steering column, chrome beltline moldings that did not make it to production, inboard-mounted backup lights (final production was out at the corners)... this car was featured in a '69 Mustang magazine ad. It is one of three such cars and the only survivor. Hearing it run was just plain awesome. Here is the 1969 ad that Ford ran featuring this very car: Another legend... CSX4000 continuation-series aluminum-bodied Cobra 427 SC, the real thing and that is unpainted, polished aluminum you see. Cobra Daytona Coupe. If only THIS one were real, but it was still cool to see it. Here is my impression of Lee Iacocca introducing the brand-new 1975 Granada and Monarch, as seen on the home page of GMV-Registry... And remember: Just Say NO!!

Say Gary,
Since the population guesses were preserved, they may acturally find a winner for this POS........
What if the owner claims it and sends it for scrap!??! They may want to keep it as an artifact but THEY MAY NOT HAVE A CHOICE!

Sell it for scrap? What is the scrap value of iron oxide, since that's just about all that is left of the poor thing? I'd be afraid to lean on any of the body panels, you'd probably fall through. Great pics!
I called Dad last night and gave him the links to look at the buried '57. He was pretty upset about it. He had a '57 Belevedere 2dr post years ago.
Jeff.

It was a great little trip up there. Saw some awesome cars, and you know that wherever Henrik goes, so goes the party... Thought you might appreciate the Iacocca impression, Jeff. I'll be going back to that Tulsa Ford show in the future. We were lucky it happened to be going on the same weekend that Miss Belvedere emerged from the crypt, Dawn of the Dead. Found a copy of the old Mustang ad that pictured the Mickey Thompson team car mentioned above - I have added that image to the original entry.

I'm just sorry I missed out on that trip. Oh well, we can't all be globetrotters like Henrik ;D
Did you have any more pics of that junkyard other than what's on Henrik's webpage?

I burned a CD with everything that Henrik shot. I'll look thru it tonight and take a look, Jeff. I was thinking it should be possible to see at least some of the cars we documented. I'm just sorry I missed out on that trip. Oh well, we can't all be globetrotters like Henrik ;D Did you have any more pics of that junkyard other than what's on Henrik's webpage?
