My Haynes workshop manual makes no reference to a heater motor relay. I don't remember Ford in the 70s having them. My thought would be the motor has lost its ground or is just generally caput.
(BTW - welcome to the board)

I just got putting the heater and the duct work back in my 76, I pulled it out and overhauld all the gaskets and seals, cleaned every thing, just to find due to a brain fart I have found the ignition sw was the problem, but I found a black box with 11 wires going into it , it says Aeronutronic Ford Corp Pat. 3,852644 100% Cert. Test, it has what looks like a 3 wire relay on top D6DA9C79-AA what the heck is that box.

Might be a dealer- installed alarm system? Not in '77. The factory pre-amp "premium sound" radios didn't come along until the '80s. maybe the power booster for the radio? wasnt that an option?
