So as some of you know, I'm currently in Puerto Rico (2wks - business).
I've had some tiime to explore the island. Now, I thought, being the Carribean, I expected a lot of older vehicles on the road due to seasonable conditions. This is far from the case in the City of San Juan. However, if you get in the more rural cities, you'll find some derelicts.
I have never seen so many battery 1968-79 Novas/Omegas/Apollos/Venturas. I counted over a dozen yesterday alone.
I also caught a glimpse of a battered yet complete 1970-74 Barracuda. It still had its rally rims and stripe package. I went by too quick to get a photo. Today I saw a field of 60s Mustangs (very, very, rough condition)

Any ford falcons? I hear that they were produced for South America through the mid 80's with very little sheetmetal changes from the early 60's. Ive seen a few pics of them. Mainly just lights and grill separating them from an early 60's model. Just wondering if they made it to the Island. Hows your tan coming?

Yes - I've seen 2 or 3 '68-70 style Falcons; none were Rancheros.

Cool beans, it always amazes me at some of the foreign offering that we missed. I espiecially like the 75 Aussie Falcon with 429 cj power.

Same body style minus the fake blower. I have a Car Craft mag laying around somewhere with one that a guy with too much money imported. Cant be 100% but seem to remember him claiming a stock 429. I could be wrong or he may be lying. Anyways I do know he had one in his. I think we lost the 429 in 71 or 72 on this side of the world. Im certain his was a '75.

Nope - no Mavericks at all.
It looks like the 1981-88 Olds Cutlass 2dr was also very popular here - lots of them still on the road.

XB details 5.8 351 cubic inches (5.8L) V8 Bore and stroke: 4 x 3.5 inches Power: 260bhp (194kW) at 4600rpm Torque: 355lb-ft (481Nm) at 2600rpm Pushrod overhead valve, 2 valves per cylinder Fuel system: Two barrel carburettor Compression ratio: 9.7:1 XC details 76 on to 79 5.8L V8 Bore and stroke: 102 x 89 mm Power: 162kW at 4500rpm Torque: 429Nm at 2700rpm Pushrod overhead valve, 2 valves per cylinder Fuel system: Four barrel carburettor Compression ratio: 8.9:1 Funny thing is I have been reading some 2005 forum stuff and quote: 'I've said it before and I'll say it again .. it's probably easier/cheaper to buy a Mustang than a decent XA-XC coupe. Why did I sell mine!!! (oh .. house .. that's right) .. what you end up with is a compromise .. like buying a Javelin!' mmmm www.madmaxmovies.com/ and check out The History Of The Interceptor

Havent looked for the magazine to confirn my suspitions. Anyway, stock or not I'll take mine with the 429 thank you very much. But call me clique' I want the 69 or 70 BOSS 429. Maybe if I adjust my insurance and have an unfortunate "accident" at work. Just kidding; Anyway I'll dig that issue up and see what the ol' boy said for sure.
