I have a leak of power steering fluid...But when I checked ever thing out it looks like there is a drip from around a copper or brass colored cylinder that fits into a casting under the master cyl. & hydro boost system. This is visible by looking from the front of the car with a light under the master cyl . But I can't seem to find a picture of it in the shop manual.Any ideas ? After futher study it may be an accumulator valve that I see does this make sense to anyone, are they rebuilable or available ? ...Don

Don- That golden/brass colored cylinder is indeed the hyroboost accumulator filled with compressed gas. I have serious doubt that the leak is from the accumulator, you may see the fluid there as it''s the lowest area on that assembly. I'll be frank, I know very little about hydroboost units. The first thing, I'd do is check all the lines leading to or from the assembly. Most leaks are usually at fittings,or corroded lines. You should also try to locate a retired old FORD mechanic that's worked on these before. Quite often, the Ford dealer service manager will refer you to retired experts for advice.. But maybe some members have had experience with their hydrboost, that they could share. Ralph

There was a post in nov. about a power boost & master cyl. ass. from NAPA in the U/S.I wonder if the accumulator is a part that is included in the assembly...Has anyone ever had to put one on.?..Don...

Don- Just visited the NAPA (USA) site. They carry a Versy hydroboost assembly, at $204 USD + $28.75 core charge.. It does not include the master brake cylinder, but it's a complete booster.. remanufactured no doubt... Worse come to worse, that's the solution and not so terribly bad price wise. But as I said earlier, I'd check to make sure leak is not from a line/fitting or the master cylinder. Let us know, as you tackle it. Cheers, Ralph

Hi Ralph, thanks for the info! I have an appointment with a local garage on tue.Its too cold to check things in a through manner out in the parking lot. I wonder if Napa in Can. can order that booster from the US if I need it. I hope Its just a line. It won't be the master cyl. because its P/S fluid.... Don
