I've never taken apart one with cruise control. Usually a bolt on a clip that holds the geared end of the speedo cable into the tranny. I don't know how the cruise hooks up, though.
It's usually harder to remove the clip on the back of the speedo. I have really wrestled with them.
Don - I know you had asked me about just changing the inside cable. If your un-lubed cable has damaged the outside casing, I'm not sure if you'll eliminate all the noise.
I switched mine complete. Mine was originally just noisy in the cold, then became noisy all the time and even the needle was noticably vibrating.
I put a used cable out of a '76 Granada 4dr into mine.
I just don't know if you need a cruise control speedo cable or not.
Sorry.

Thanks Jeff, I took the car to the Mechanic,we couldn't find a cable but he took the cable apart & put lube on it.The needle still moves back & forth a bit. When I get to Ont. I will try to find a new cable maybe send the head away for a rebuild, A funny thing happened! The little elec. connection came out of the Gen. Light at the dash end, they took a long time & trial & error to figure out why they couldn't complete the circuit from the alternator, without computers some techs are lost.....Don.

Well, when you get to Ontario, I might have a full used speedo cable for you from my uncles yard.
Jeff.
