Greetings. I found this board and wondering if someone can help with my axle bearing problem. I don't own a Granada, but I do have a Granada differential in my '39 Chevy street rod. I need to replace an axle bearing, so I took the axle out, bought the bearing at my local NAPA and took it to my buddy's shop to have him press it on. He cut the old one off, but the new one won't go on. it lacks about 1/4" from bottoming out. My info tag reads
WDW-AB 5JB 2.79 8 555C
The WDW tells me it is a 75-78 Granada, and I know the 8 tells me it is an 8-inch rear.
The NAPA catalog tells me the ID of the bearing is 1.37. I looked it up on rock auto and their catalog says 1.378. That 8-thousanths may make the difference.
Anybody know about these axles?
Thanks
Walt
