Getting frustrated now, had her starting and running well about two weeks ago. Went out to move her back in the driveway and now doesn't want to start. All the warning lights come on when I put the key in the ignition, go to crank and nothing. Put the charger on the battery, thinking that was the problem, to full charge. Once done tried again and same results, nothing. Pulled the battery, and replacing then cables to see if that's the problem. May even pick up the correct battery since the one in doesn't fit the tray, hope this fixes it but if it doesn't any ideas?

;)William- Glad you got your start problem resolved, at a minimal cost. It's a funny coincidence that a few days ago, I was going to take my '79 Versailles for its annual motor vehicle fitness inspection, and I thought I best do a quick check before I went. From the drivers seat , all seemed right, headlight hi/low , horn worked, brakes ,including emergency, have always been good, tires are great, and steering is tight, signal lights seemed to work- a normal click sound- and dash direction arrow. but when I checked from the outside-- no front park lamps, or signal lights.- rear just fine. Checked all fuses, bulbs, sockets - all seemed in reasonable shape for a 33 yr old car. but still no front lights except headlights. With volt meter and probe, I was able to determine that current was indeed there for all the non functioning lamps. I didn't have to tinker long with the sockets to find the problem.. Corrosion of the wires where they contact with the spring steel terminals inside the sockets. They looked fine on examination, but in fact they were not- so eight socket replacements and I have full lighting again. My point- Just because a socket looks good does not mean it is! Good luck with that.

I'll look at the sockets again when i locate my meter, that may be the issue. Have to get some contact cleaner and go at them. The cables were very cheap made them up at work from some heavy 4 gauge we have and copper connectors, spent $5 on the terminals.

I can say that I've had my share of problems with the front lamp sockets on my Versailles. Some of them couldn't be repaired/rebuilt and had to be replaced. They can be a bore.

James-
Amen to that.
I still don't have the cornering lamps working, even after replacing both relays.
That however will not jeapordize the fitness inspection.
Glad to see you posting again- come back soon. Cheers, Ralph

I too had problems with my cornering lamps when I first acquired my Versailles a dozen plus years ago. If my memory is correct, I replaced the relays and they still didn't work. Then I realized they weren't grounded/attached to the metal dash frame. When I attached them, the cornering lamps started working again.
