Salutation , my 1980 Versaille just blow mild air ,when its close to 0 outside, when colder outside , almost cold. the blower work on all speed, the water valve is open , because the two heater hose at the firewall are both hot.I can transfer the air from heater to defrost. is there a way to open a trap in the heater box , to let the air warm through the heater core. I don't have a garage so no taking apart of the dash is possible . I don't mind having the hot air all winter. Thank you Michel.......

Maybe this is just a simple issue of needing to replace the thermostat?? It has been my experience that I don't get heat in the car when the thermostat goes bad. Hoepfully that's all it is... just a thought...

I have the same thing going on. I am getting heat, but not as warm as it should be. I changed the thermostat and it made no difference. Of course, this is the first time I have driven the old Monarch in winter, so I was blissfully unaware of the problem. I am thinking the heater core could be partially blocked. Anyone ever had success in reverse flushing one? A new heater core is cheap and available, but I had to change one years ago in a '75 Granada that I had, it had started leaking, and it was no easy job. I did it without taking the dash out, but it took almost a whole day.

Yesterday I had my car in to the mechanic...needed a new (rebuilt) master cylinder. I asked the mechanic about my heat problem. He suggested filling the heater core with a solution of water and CLR, and letting it sit in there for 30-45 minutes, then flushing it out backwards. Worked like a dream...lotsa heat now.
