Howdy All,
OK... this is about my Mark III and not a GMV. But, hopefully the question/topic is universal.
The clutch on the a/c compressor seems to squeal when the engine is revving anything above idle. Now... I'm no genius about these things. The belt is new & tight. I carefully sprayed a tiny bit amount of WD40 (that's all I had in the garage). The squeal reduced a lot.
Guess my question is how do I know if it's a lubrication problem versus failing clutch? And if it is lubrication, how does one lubricate an a/c clutch? Are we even supposed to lubricate them?

James,
I think the first thing I would do is remove the belt and see how hard it is to turn that pulley by hand to determine if you have a lubrication issue or something more serious. You can also tell if it turns smooth or rough.
I'd want to the answer to that before I suggest any remedies.
