Jeff,
I am not sure if you got the emai I sent. I tried to send it twice but it is not seeming to pop up. I am not sure if you have these 2 vins or not but here they go: VIN #7E82F297300 This was the Granada my Grandparents gave me in 1987. It was sent to the junkyard in 1990. The best I remember it was equipped with the bumper protection group, PS/PB, C-4 tranny, 8.7 rear with 2.47 gears, am radio, factory a/c. Color was 9D with no vinyl roof and was camel interior with a bench seat. Suspension was heavy duty with heavy duty cooling. It had the towing option. I thought I found the origional owner card given to my Grandparents but turns out the dealer gave them the wrong one. The owner card is for a completely different car. Its VIN is 7E82L274465 Codes are: 6P 24 66H JV O5G 6 5 A
I also spent some of last weekend trying to find my buildsheet but only found a small green card that read:
D7DB-6613000 A2OBC BLUE 1977 GRANADA/MONARCH FRONT STD. 3 SPEED S/66 Any idea what that means?
Thanks again!

Almost forgot. My first Granada had a 302 V-8. That is the 5th character in the VIN = engine code. F is 302.

I always appreciate more VINS! I'll try to catch up next week when I'm in Montreal - it will give me something to do at night in the hotel while I'm having my dinner out of the mini-bar! ;D

Gary,
Thanks for the site heads up. I will use that to try and figure the two out that are under those Monarchs. The salvage yard only wants 150 dollars and they will even pull it. I have been going over a couple of sites trying to figure out what ID numbers they could be based on the year model of both cars. One of the 80 models is a code 3 and I looked it up as being a 2.79 conventional axle. Cross reference to the codes I have been looking at....For the 80 year model the best I can figure is it would most likely be an 8 inch rear. Does that sound right? I rally tried to get a good look at this rear and the other one. The best I could do was be certain they did not have the removeable rear cover like my 8.7 rear. It was clearly a solid weld. The other Monarch did not have the driver door so all I can go on is the rear ID tag. This rear also was a solid weld but beyond that It is a crap shoot on whether it is an 8 or 9. The only codes I found for an 8 inch 80 Monarch are these: WDW-AF, WDW-AF2 and the ony 9 inch 80 Monarch codes I have found are these: WDX-G, WDX-G1 AND WDX-G2. The 8 inch codes all list as a 2.79 and the 9 inch list as 2.47. I could not find any other ratio for this year. Any idea if I am on track? Either way I will take these numbers on the off chance the one without the door might be a 9 inch. I will be taking one of them home regardless for that price. Thanks for any more light you can provide. James

the one sure bet, James - if there is a removable rear cover it isn't what you want. Both the 8" and 9" are solid castings in the back, the whole carrier unbolts and removes from the front. The only ratio I've seen on the Granadas/Monarchs with 8.7", like yours, is 2.47. Maybe there were other gearsets in them but I haven't seen one among the cars I personally know that Jeff has registered. Once you've got either an 8" or 9" you can get any gears you want for 'em, parts are very available. Gary, Thanks for the site heads up. HI JEFF_
A while back I purchased a Versailles dash pad/ cover, thought no more of it , put it aside for another day. Today, I was sort of prompted to rearrange my treasures (car parts) so that at least one vehicle might find shelter in the garage this winter! I lovingly re-wrapped this dash pad jewel with protective bubbles, but noticed the VIN tag was still with the pad--- so here it is: obviously RIP otherwise I wouldn't have the pad- 0W84F626866 - 1980 Versailles -302 cid- with a "wedgewood blue" interior. Cheers, Ralph

Jeff,
I remember that the car was gold inside but I can't remember what the seats looked like. I keep thinking they all had a front bench seat. The red Monarch has an outstanding dash with NO CRACKS or FADING at all. The front seat was very dirty but had no tears or fading either. That sticks out bevause it has a armrest in the center and I was thinking about using it my car with a color change. It was really nice.
I am going back next week (If it ever stops raining) when the ground dries back out to pick up the rear out of the blue Monarch. I will check it out and see what other details I can pick up. Like if it is a Ghia etc.
James
