Your build sheet can be found in 1 of 2 places:
1. Under or behind the backseat cushion. I have seen it under the seat portion or behind the back portion. You will need to unbolt the 2 bolts below the bottom seat cushion to remove the lower seat. Once removed, the back portion can be levered and lifted off of its clips.
2. Underneath the trunk carpet.

Here is what a buildsheet looks like. This is my own buildsheet.

On a Versailles that I owned, I found a build sheet not only under the backseat but also under the hood pad. Not sure if it was placed there by factory or previous owner.

The one for my '77 SC was under the passenger front seat, tucked between the springs and the padding. I've found them in similar location on other cars.

This may be of greater interest to Jeff- but possibly others. Some of you have gathered that I was less than estatic about my latest acquisition- suposedly a low mileage Florida Versailles. The Florida part is correct- no rust!!!! Anyway, I'm slowly simmering to below the boil point, and I've been looking at this unit a bit more closely with a view of doing something to it. First, very evident it needs a g o o d clean. And I start at it today.... under the carpet, left rear footwell, I find a truely crumpled piece of paper as one would do if discarding it. I slowly unfold it to find a " buildsheet" - This carpet has never been up before-stretchy plastic torn off at the sill plate( typical dealer prep), but the buildsheet is not for the car I have. Mine has s/n - 9W84F643109 - this build sheet is for 9W82F165800. , not even a Versailles. This ghost car has 54H body type- and would have been dark cordovan with a full Valino Cordovan vinyl roof. Jeff, If you're interested, I'll scan the crumpled but otherwise very healthy buildsheet and e-mail to you. Looks like some assembler in the Wayne plant, found something in his pockets he thought he better be rid off quick. By the way, I've not yet found the "true" build sheet. But I've got lots of dirt & grime to get thru yet!!! Cheers Everyone, Ralph

The closest thing to that I've heard of is back in the 60's when VIN's were stamped on rad shells, one 60's T-bird have its and the next consecutive VIN stamped on it.

Ralph, Added it yesterday www.gmv-registry.com/generic1088.htmlLooks like it was highly optioned. I wonder if the carpeting that is in your car started in this one and the build sheet got stuck to it?

That's two "paper Granadas" in the last week. I noticed you've added the car from the eBay Ownercard as well. I have the window sticker for my mother's '76 Ghia sedan - but the corner is torn where the VIN was printed and the last one or two digits of the VIN are missing. Tried the Ford "History 999" people to see if I could uncover the rest of the VIN, but they weren't much help. Yes I did, Gary.
I didn't send you the confirmation as the page was only showing visible to me, not to the Internet. It sometimes takes a couple of hours for all the servers to update.

To Jeff & other interested members- 79 Versailles cleaning is progressing , i.e. slowly- but behind the rear seat back, I found the pertinent buildsheet... I'm trying to attach it here from photo bucket for all to see.. Interesting - the area on the sheet refering to seats is circled- presumably as where the build sheet was placed.

Jeff- Thanks for the edit- i.e. bringing up picture-I must be dumb!!! By the way, can you tell from that buildsheet, if this Versailles left the factory as one colour only or was it a two toned paint job. It's now dark champagne on top and presumably light champagne below the belt line, but paint's not original on either top or bottom. Thanks, Ralph .
